January 2, 2014

Laura Clymer is a new associate at Brian Clymer, Attorney at Law. The firm represents people in Arizona workers’ compensation and Social Security disability cases.

Ms. Clymer, a native Arizonan, graduated from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University on May 9, 2013. She was one of 11 in her graduating class of 210 students to receive a Dean’s Award for outstanding contributions and performance at the law school. She passed the Arizona bar exam given in July and was admitted to the practice of law on December 11, 2013.

While in law school, Ms. Clymer was co-editor-in-chief of the Law Journal for Social Justice; served on the executive board of OUTLaw, the gay-straight student alliance; and worked as a research assistant in the ASU Work-Life Policy Unit of the Civil Justice Clinic at the law school. She also completed externships for U.S. Magistrate Judge David Duncan, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the civil division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and clerked one summer in Maricopa Superior Court. She was the 2012 recipient of the R. Kelly Hocker Employment and Labor Law scholarship and a co-recipient of the Jonathan Paul Schubert Memorial scholarship in 2013.

Prior to law school, Ms. Clymer was a journalist for 18 years. She was the city editor and online content editor for the award-winning Arizona Daily Sun newspaper in Flagstaff from 2001 until August 2010. A 1982 graduate of Canyon del Oro High School (Tucson, Az.), she received her bachelor’s degree in history and communication, cum laude, in 1986 from DePauw University (Greencastle, Ind.). While at DePauw, Clymer played basketball and softball for the Tigers, wrote for the student newspaper and yearbook, and edited DePauw’s Little 500 bicycle race program.

“I’m thrilled to be back in Tucson and to have the opportunity to represent injured workers in their workers’ compensation and Social Security disability cases,” said Ms. Clymer. “I’m also looking forward to reconnecting and getting involved with Tucson, the community I call my hometown.” Of his new associate, Brian Clymer said, "I'm really excited to have my sister come to work with me. While she was in law school, she followed me around over her Christmas break, and I was impressed by how easily she connected with my clients. She also has great writing skills from having been a journalist, and those skills are really useful as a lawyer."

Attorney Brian Clymer has more than 30 years of experience representing injured and disabled workers in Tucson and southern Arizona. He is a certified specialist in Workers' Compensation law by the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization since 1983 and has won cases before the Arizona Court of Appeals and the Arizona Supreme Court.
