Seasoned support professionals add valuable experience to Clymer law firm: Meet Susan Polito

On Behalf of | Mar 18, 2019 | Workers Compensation |

Like most organizations, successful law firms are only as good as the administrative and office staff professionals supporting it. It’s no different at Brian Clymer Attorney at Law where capable and experienced legal assistants and office administrators ‘grease’ the wheels of the operation and keep it running smoothly.

Within the last year, the firm has welcomed new staff members – legal assistant Susan Polito, office administrator Emily Clymer, and records clerk Scott Christie-June – all of whom are dedicated to serving our clients.

Meet Legal Assistant Susan Polito

Legal assistant Susan Polito joined the firm last spring, replacing Kathy Wills who retired.

Susan has nearly 20 years’ experience in workers’ compensation, having previously worked for the State Compensation Fund as a claims adjuster, for Tucson Orthopaedic Institute (TOI) as its work comp coordinator, and Retina Specialists of Southern Arizona in the front office. She has earned the following certifications: Arizona Property and Casualty Insurance Adjuster License (Aug 2011 / August 2015; Workers’ Compensation Certified Profession (WCCP); and Workers’ Compensation Claims Administrations (WCCA).

At the State Compensation Fund, Susan managed complex work injury claims for over 15 years. Her insider’s understanding of processing claims benefits, managing medical treatment and cost, authorizing outpatient surgeries, establishing reserves for future indemnity and medical costs, calculating and payment of monetary awards for permanent impairment benefits, negotiating cost with health care providers, and researching and investigating claims issues has already proven invaluable to the firm.

Susan’s experience at TOI meant she worked closely with injured workers who were being treated by the medical practice’s doctors and with the physicians providing the treatment, so both better understood the ins and outs of workers’ compensation system.

“I have always loved the work comp field and the opportunity to assist injury workers with the complex world of work comp and helping them adjust and recover from their injuries,” Susan said.

Susan was born in San Diego, California. Her father was in the U.S. Navy, so the family moved around a lot. She landed in Tucson when she was 10, after her father’s retirement. A longtime resident, Susan loves the beauty of the Arizona desert, our incredible weather, spending time with her grandchildren and being crafty with her hands. “I was a single mom of three children for twenty years, before marrying my wonderful husband Sam,” she said.
