State legislators back to work for 2018 session

On Behalf of | Jan 11, 2018 | Workers Compensation |

Arizona lawmakers returned to the state capitol this week for the start of the 2018 Arizona Legislative Session. State legislators have the power to make changes to our Workers’ Compensation system. When a bill that reduces workers’ comp benefits or makes the system less fair for injured worker is proposed, directly contacting your legislators can effectively stop bad changes.

Let your state Senator and state Representative know that you are a voter and constituent who lives in their legislative district, and that any bill that limits workers’ comp benefits only serves big insurance companies, while further harming injured workers like yourself.

You can find out who your senator and representatives are by going to www.azleg.gov/MemberRoster/. Click on the respective tab marked “Senate” or “House” to find you legislators. If you don’t know who your legislators are, use the tab marked “Find My Legislator”. Click on that tab to find your senator and two representatives.

You can be an effective voice letting our legislators know how our workers’ compensation system affects everyday people.

Want to weigh in on proposed legislation?

Longtime statehouse reporter Howard Fischer offers some great tips for staying in the loop on pending legislation, for tracking bill through the legislative process, and for voicing your opinion about proposed bills. Here is his story, which explains how to do this and which was recently published in the Arizona Daily Star.
